Watchmen
Thanks for praying and fasting with us this Wednesday, December 15.
“I will stand my watch and set myself on the rampart, and watch to see what He will say to me, and what I will answer when I am corrected” (Habakkuk 2:1).
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (II Timothy 3:16).
Someday we will see what has been accomplished in the spiritual realm as a result of our prayer and fasting. Jesus most certainly alluded to the spiritual principle that only certain things happen through prayer and fasting.
Habbakuk was curious. Like us, he wanted to HEAR what God would say to him in his times of prayer. It was an exciting anticipation when he went into his prayer closet. What would God speak to his heart today?
But he was also interested in how he would RESPOND to God’s voice, especially when God corrected him. He was showing his vulnerability here, and was praying he would be teachable and correctable.
This is true hunger and humility.
Let’s pray for ourselves
Dear Lord,
May we be so dead to our own flesh, that our spirit would be genuinely excited to hear what You would say to us in prayer today! And would You grant to us the ability to humble our own hearts, and become correctable as we read Your word today? Forgive us for our independence. Help us realize our total dependence on You from our very first morning breath to our peaceful sleep.
Let’s pray for our city and country
Dear Lord,
Your Bible is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. Thank You for Your loving correction when we stray from Your ways. Help the USA and the church to embrace Your correction, and to hear and obey Your voice only. Have mercy upon us again we pray.
Let’s pray for the global advance of the gospel
Dear Lord,
Raise up men and women who will become WATCHMEN AND WATCHWOMEN in prayer. We want to be a part of this end-time move of the Holy Spirit. Help us HEAR Your voice and to RESPOND to Your correction. Raise up people who will boldly and compassionately speak for You. In Jesus mighty name we pray, amen.
